In 2014, MakerBot released the Replicator 5th Generation family of low-cost 3D Printers. These machines marked a turning point in 3D printer design as they earned a Red Dot Award, Good Design Selection, and the iF Design Award.
MY ROLE
For the Replicator 5th Generation, I designed the housings and physical interaction points on the Replicator, Replicator Mini, and Replicator Z18. As MakerBot's first full time Industrial Designer, I helped take MakerBot's design language from the laser cut panels to injection molded parts. This design language has carried through to recently released products and products still in development.
